As opposed to what happens in society today, where elaborate and expensive amounts of goods and currency are demanded, the dowry should be easily attainable and not cause couples to choose zinah instead due to difficulty or cause confusion by dismissing good men for marriage.
Are we still making marriage difficult by demanding large sums of cash and other items for our daughters? This is causing mischief and making our children choose what is not permissible outside of marriage. The best way is to make it easy for them to get married.
