Every Breath Is A Gift From Allah, Receive it with Thanks

The Blessing of Breath in the Quran

In the Quran, Allah reminds us of the importance of every breath we take. In Surah Al-Sajdah, verse 9, Allah says,

“Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.”

Surah Al-Sajdah 32:9

This verse highlights the fact that our very existence is a result of Allah’s mercy and His gift of breath to us.

Every Breath Is A Gift From Allah

Gratitude for the Gift of Breath

As Muslims, it is essential for us to recognize and appreciate the blessings bestowed upon us by Allah, including the gift of breath. We often take breathing for granted, but it is a fundamental aspect of our existence.

The ability to breathe is not only necessary for our physical survival but also for our spiritual well-being.

Remembering Allah with Every Breath

One of the ways we can show gratitude for the gift of breath is by remembering Allah with every breath we take.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,

“The best of remembrance is La ilaha illallah (There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah), and the best supplication is Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah).”

Hadith

Therefore, we should strive to constantly remember and praise Allah with each breath we take.

Utilizing Breath for Good Deeds

Our breath is not only a means of survival but also a tool for performing good deeds. We can use our breath to recite the Quran, make dua (supplication), recite dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and engage in acts of kindness and charity. By utilizing our breath in these ways, we can maximize its value and earn rewards from Allah.

Reflecting on the Fragility of Life

Every breath we take is a reminder of the fragility and transience of life. Our breaths are limited, and we do not know when our last breath will be.

This realization should motivate us to make the most of every moment and strive to live a life that is pleasing to Allah.
